1990 Doctoral degree for his work on biologically active organosilanes, metabolic fates of organosilicon and organogermanium compounds as well as the first studies on zwitterionic pentacoordinate silicon compounds under the supervision of Prof. R. Tacke
1990-1991 Postdoctoral studies on polysilazane polymers and SiC/SiN ceramics at the MIT in Cambridge (USA) with Prof. D. Seyferth as a DFG fellow
1992-1995 Habilitation work in the group of Prof. M. Veith at the University of Saarbrücken with a DFG habilitation grant
1995 Habilitation thesis on 1,3-dilithiated organoelement compounds with main group elements and organoelement ring systems and was appointed Privatdozent at the University of Saarbrücken
1997 Awarded a DFG Heisenberg fellowship
1998 Appointed Privatdozent at the University of Würzburg
2002 Invitation of Prof. B. Keppler at Vienna University to be Visiting Professor for Bioinorganic Chemistry
